Tour tip: between Italy and Switzerland
November 2, 2011 in Italy
This tour we started just below the Reschen pass on the Italian side. From there we went into Switzerland, and over the Ofen pass into the beautiful landscape of the Swiss National Park in Engadin. We then turned left towards Livigno (duty-free district), through a one-way tunnel (alternating traffic, road charge!) to the lake Livigno. The view from the dam is stunning. Small mountain roads an passes led us to Bormio, and from there to the Stilfser Joch – one of the highest mountain passes in the Alps with 2700 m. Due to the road conditions and cold feet we turned towards Switzerland just before we reached the pass. But it is definitely worth going up there when the temperatures are a bit higher. Over a little road with almost no traffic, and partly with gravel only, we went back trough more beatiful landscape to the starting point.
